Apple bows in program for environment-minded products Apple will quickly stop being involved in a leading program committed to the creation of environmentally friendly products, reportedly on the grounds that its design direction not really as per the program's requirements.

Late recently, Apple told the nonprofit EPEAT group the fact that the company would don't submit its products for green certification from EPEAT plus which it had pulling its currently certified products out of your group's registry.

According in direction of the Wall Street Journal's CIO Journal site, 39 of Apple's products had received EPEAT's green stamp of approval, including laptops like theMacBook Pro and theMacBook Air.

EPEAT, also know as Nexus 4 Hard Case the Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool, receives funding from Environmental Protection Agency and calls itself "the leading global environmental rating system for electronic products, connecting purchasers to environmentally preferable choices and benefiting producers who demonstrate environmental responsibility and innovation."

The U.S. government requires that 95 percent of electronics bear the EPEAT stamps; large companies in particular Ford and Kaiser Permanente require their CIOs buying from EPEAT-certified firms; and most of a largest universities inside the U.S. wish to Nexus 4 Leather Case buy EPEAT-friendly gear, CIO Journal reports.

Apple "said their design direction was no longer in conjuction with the EPEAT requirements," CIO Journal quotes EPEAT CEO Robert Frisbee as saying. "They were important supporters as well as are disappointed make will not want the products measured at this standard anymore."

Among any other thing, the EPEAT requirements hold that electronics will be an easy disassemble, so their components is generally recycled. The iPhone, theiPad, and in addition the new MacBook Pro with Retina display don't pass muster resulting from weapons like batteries and glass displays who're glued to casings and backings. Apple may soon introduce a different option green standard in order to apply to its products, CIO Journal reports.

We've contacted Apple for comment and will update this post assuming we hear back. CIO Journal said Apple had declined to comment but had referred the to the Environment component to Apple's Web site.
